Dockside Fair

Sell the spare stuff in your storage to other captains and buy what you're missing. Each listing stays in one harbor, and whoever wants it sails there.

What the Fair is

The Dockside Fair is the canvas-awning stall on the quay, right by the crane, in the open-sea harbors. That's where captains sell to each other. The game doesn't sell anything at the Fair, it just holds the payment until the seller collects it and keeps a small fee.

The catch is location, because each listing stays in the harbor where it was made. List something in the harbor of the last sea in the world and only someone who sails all the way there can buy it. A rare item far from home is worth the trip, and a common item near the start sells fast.

  • Buy: the listings in the harbor you're in.
  • Sell: your slots, showing what's for sale and how much time is left.
  • Collections: what your sales earned and what came back to you.

The guild island and the training cove have no Fair.

Listing an item

  1. Dock at the harbor where you want to sell and tap the Dockside Fair stall.
  2. In the Sell tab, pick an item from your storage. If it is a stack, choose how many go into the listing.
  3. Set the price for the whole stack. The screen shows the minimum and a suggested price.
  4. Confirm. The item leaves your storage and is kept in the listing.

The clock keeps running even with the game closed. From anywhere, and for free, you can renew a listing (the timer goes back to full) or cancel it, which sends the item back to your storage. If time runs out with no sale, the item comes back on its own too.

While it's listed, the item can't be used, installed or sold any other way. If it doesn't fit back into your storage, it waits in Collections, so nothing gets lost.

Price, minimum and currency

Every item has a reference value, which the game works out from what it costs to get it, whether that's the shop price, what the Workshop asks for, or how long it takes to drop at sea. A listing can't go below 50% of that value, and the suggested price is the full value.

The item picks the currency, not you. Anything that can only be bought with diamonds, or only obtained by spending diamonds, sells for diamonds. Everything else sells for gold.

  • In gold, there is no maximum price.
  • In diamonds, the price goes up to 3 times the reference value at most.
  • A weapon or part bought at an auction: the minimum is 50% of what you paid for it. If you paid in one currency and it sells in the other, the rate is 10,000 gold per diamond.

The minimum for every weapon, part, ammunition, item and material is in the database.

Buying

The Buy tab shows the listings in the harbor where you're docked. The Search all harbors button lists the item, price and harbor of every listing, cheapest first, but you can only buy while docked at the listing's harbor. Once you find what you want, sail there and buy it.

  • You pay the full price, in the item's currency, and the stack goes straight into your storage.
  • You can buy a weapon above your level. It waits in your storage until you catch up.
  • If the whole stack doesn't fit in your storage, the purchase doesn't go through and you aren't charged.
  • If two captains want the same listing, whoever confirms first gets it.

You can't buy your own listing, or one from someone playing on the same network or device as you. Anyone you've blocked, or who has blocked you, can't see your listings, and you can't see theirs. Groups, guilds and allies don't get a discount.

Collections and the fee

What a sale earns doesn't land in your wallet by itself. It waits in the Collections tab, with the 5% fee already taken (on a 10,000 gold sale, 500 stays with the Fair). To collect, dock at any harbor and tap Collect all. There is no deadline.

  • Gold: can be collected as soon as the sale happens.
  • Diamonds: stay "on hold" for 72 h after the sale and only then can be collected.
  • Returned items: anything that expired or was cancelled and didn't fit in your storage waits here.

Every sale, expiry or return pops up a notice on screen, goes into the Log and arrives as a message in the "Dockside Fair" conversation, in the Friends panel. The badge on the harbor stall shows how many collections are ready.

What cannot be sold

Cannons and launchers (masterworks and gold and diamond weapons included), ship parts, ammunition, materials and battle items can all go to the Fair, even the ones that came from auctions and the event shop. What stays out:

  • Hulls, all of them.
  • Treasure map pieces.
  • Anything you can only get from the guild shop or the guild Workshop, as an arena reward, with PvP points or from the Skull shop. If the item also drops at sea, it's allowed. More in the guilds guide and the arena guide.
  • Anything installed on the ship. Only what's in storage can go to the Fair, so take it off the ship before you list it.

Today, 304 of the game's 337 items can go to the Fair; left out are 13 coming_soon, 4 arena rewards and 16 guild exclusives.

Tip: Before you sell cheap, take a look at the search across all harbors. The same item might be going for more on the other side of the world, and the captains there will pay it.
